The first step in your career

Nordea’s graduate programme is a great way to kick-start your career, and a valuable opportunity to put theory into hands-on practice. You will explore and develop your personal and professional skills during the programme, and get a sense of what makes you tick within the business.

A two-part Graduate programme

The openings differ from country to country, but whether you are located in Denmark, Finland, Norway or Sweden, the programme is the same – it will run the same course and be divided into a general part and a business track.

The first part runs for one year, during which time you will attend four international seminars and meet fellow graduates from other countries in the bank. You will also meet up regularly with your mentor who will help you settle into the company. After the first year, you will have gained a solid overview and a great network, not only within Nordea Markets, Large Corporates & Institutions (LC&I) but across Nordea.

The business track lasts for one to two years and offers you the opportunity to specialise in a chosen business area. Depending on your interests and skills, you can pursue a career as a sales manager, analyst, trader, researcher or some other position within our company. You will learn your profession and gradually be given more and more responsibility in relation to customers and colleagues. You will get hands-on experience and responsibility from day one – with full support from colleagues in your team.

Curious and eager to learn and perform

We expect you to have an academic degree, preferably related to finance and economics, and a strong interest in financial markets. But good grades don’t cut it alone. More than anything else we look for the right attitude. You need to be confident, self-driven, curious and have a mindset to constantly improve and develop yourself.

Things tend to get busy at our offices. Stepping on to one of our trading floors in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo and Helsinki, you’ll instantly feel that buzzing, dynamic atmosphere which you’ll quickly become part of. To succeed you must thrive on working in a high-pressure environment and be set to put your heart and soul into your work and get things done.

Steep learning curve – we’ll help you succeed

As a graduate in Markets, LC&I you will be hired for a specific position and as you’ll be on the fast track you should be prepared to invest more time and energy than in a normal position. The learning curve is steep but also rewarding when you succeed – and we’ll help you with that.

If you are an ambitious team player with a great personality, and you can put a checkmark by the overall criteria below, we might have a desk for you:

  • A maximum of one year’s post-academic working experience
  • Great social and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • Excellent in English, verbal and written
  • Ability to work hard, make decisions under pressure – staying calm and nice

Most graduate positions are for a particular location (country and/or organisational area) but occasionally, we recruit the best candidate to be located in any of the four Nordic capitals. Each job ad contains detailed information about the position, its location and application date.

Vacant positions will be published on We recommend that you start a subscription for upcoming graduate positions to make sure that you get an e-mail as soon as a position is posted. If you want to apply for more than one position, you need to send separate applications for each position.
